Initial Sketch

Floor Board

For the Floorboards i cut a heap of the Balsa wood blocks in half, seems like a lot of effort but was relatively Easy and looked great, when choosing the blocks to cut i gave a light prick with my Craft Knife, the Harder ones i kept for the walls. I Two Index Cards as a Template for the base and to glue all the pieces too. This is very Light and Holds together very well. Once the Flooring was done Uncut Blocks were used for the Walls Base, This was so i could use this as is as a Tile for future use, it ended up the same thickness as a Cardboard Tile so will be able to mix in with others.

The Walls

The Walls are made out of Card stock, the Beams are Balsa wood, the Window Frames are Card Strips and the Windows are Clear Over head Projector sheets. The Window Detail was carved onto the sheet using a ruler and a craft knife with very little blade exposed. The Wood Grain on the walls was drawn on with pencil before putting together, pressing hard leaves the indent on the card, i wanted it to look like it had been painted white so i didn't shade it.

Unpainted Without all the little Bits made

The Flag is Paper Towel with the Cross Painted on, Wet the Towel and let it set the way you need. The Boxes, Bench and Chests are all carved from Balsa. The Canvas rolls are just TP. The Sack on the Crates is mad from TP also, the Cups on the tables are all made from the inside of a pen cut down.

The Barrels are TP rolled up then Strips of Card Stock Applied

The Bottles were Carved out of Balsa Blocks, i got Eight out of a block, these are fiddly but relaxing to do while watching TV.

The Round table is Card Stock, the Grain Drawn on before painting like i did the walls, The Legs are Balsa and the edge Card stock, The Writing Desk is carved from a Balsa Block, The Large table is Matchsticks with balsa Legs and a card stock edging. The Candles are a Tooth Pick coated several times with White Glue , for the wick well that was an accident that worked, you know when you work with white glue you get that layer on your fingers, well rub your fingers together and stick on top thats what you get. The Papers on the writing desk are the smallest print i could do on my PC cut out.

The Maps are Paper Towels soaked in water and laid over the table, then a very small amount of white glue/water mix was painted over it once dry the Map itself was drawn on with a pen

The Books are all Popcical sticks cut down with a Colored cardboard Cover. the scrolls are all just rolled up paper.

The Bed is made from Balsa Strips left from the flooring and some matchsticks, the sheets, pillow and canvas sheet are all Paper towel.

I had great fun with this build i hope it had some pointers to others.
